Dior and I

The other day I was super pumped to go to the theater to see the new fashion documentary, Dior and I, directed by Frédéric Tcheng. I've been hearing all about this film which led me to right to The Moviehouse and it had to be the cutest theater I've ever been to. I mean you get to watch the movie in a beautiful screening room with couches, surrounded by artwork created by local artisans while eating luxury snacks. What better quality entertainment could someone ask for?

Watching the film made me feel like I was right in Paris at the House of Dior a.k.a. La Maison Dior (taking French for a year in third grade helped me out on that one). The plot encircles the journey of Dior's new creative director, Raf Simons, as he learns the ropes of haute couture versus his past of ready-to-wear runway looks. Raf was known to be a "minimalist" which gave him a challenge to prove his creative aesthetics. The team was given eight weeks to make a collection to debut on the runway for the elite of fashion to see.

The teamwork in the ateliers is beyond amazing. I have always known how complex haute couture is, but there is nothing more interesting than seeing it visually. Every single stitch, trim, and tweak makes it obvious to why haute couture costs so much, but it's worth every penny for the work the goes into it. Even more so with the pride that Christian Dior has instilled in his company that remains today. I was captivated by Dior and I and watching everything come together at the final runway show looked even more beautiful knowing the work ethics behind it. This is certainly a must-see!
