Chunky Sweater Moments

You know when you haven't seen someone in a bit and they just drop a bunch of news on you. Good, because that's pretty much the situation at hand. If you are following me @raquelringgold which I hope you are, I am sure you saw that I was recently crowned International Junior Miss New York Teen 2018. I have a crazy journey ahead of me this upcoming year, but I wanna save all that talk for an upcoming YouTube video.

Also, while on the subject of YouTube, I am doing VLOGMAS. Yaaaaay. Make sure you subscribe to my channel to see all of my videos leading up to Christmas, and I will of course still be making consistent content following. I finally got the whole editing thing down and I think it's gonna be a great extension of OMNIVOGUES.

The sweater weather mood is real and I am all about cozy vibes at the moment. It is finals week and then voila, it will officially be the finale of my first semester of college. That was ridiculously quick. Back to this SheIn coffee sweater, I absolutely love wearing one heavy piece that is warm enough to then just throw a jacket on over it. We had a little bit of snow the other day in NYC and sweaters like this are absolutely wonderful because they are casual enough to lounge in, but presentable enough for the real world in case I decide to stop hibernating.

December Mood Board

fitzcarraldo (n.) an image that somehow becomes lodged deep in your brain—maybe washed there by a dream, or smuggled inside a book, or planted during a casual conversation—which then grows into a wild and impractical vision that keeps scrambling back and forth in your head like a dog stuck in a car that’s about to arrive home, just itching for a chance to leap headlong into reality.

Cold Shoulder Oxford

TGIF, amen, we did it. If you didn't check out my last YouTube video where I collabed with KKW Beauty, make sure you do. The highlighters will have you glowing like the star on top of a Christmas tree. That last line may or may not have been strongly influenced by my holiday music Spotify playlist that I have been blasting since the first day of November.

I'm at that point in college where Thanksgiving break is creeping up which means a bunch of deadlines are about to hit me like a brick. Don't fear though, luckily I've been meticulously planning and as long as procrastination doesn't hit in the next week I'll be just fine. I've got my eyes on the prize...Black Friday.

Cold-shoulder and off-shoulder pieces have to be one of my favorite trends of 2016. I love this oxford-esque top that reminds me of my school uniform days, but in more of a Serena van der Woodsen chic way. I paired it with these ripped jeans because if fabric is missing from the top, why not rip the jeans too. I am obsessed with the bold color of these pumps, and it fit in perfectly with the hues of blue.

Have a beautiful weekend!

KKW Powder Contour & Highlight Kit | First Impressions

As promised, here I am with another video, finally! I'm totally, completely, 100% shook that I am typing this, but I am so excited to have collabed with KKW Beauty to do this review. Yes, THE KKW BEAUTY, as in THE Kim Kardashian West's line. I did a first impressions video on their Powder Contour & Highlight Kit, so watch to see if I think it is worth the cost, how it works on my skin, and more.

Also, make sure to subscribe to my channel and let me know what you think! xxx

HAPPY FRI-YAY! This week literally flew by and I have to say it was a 10/10 in terms of getting stuff done. It went something around the lines of:

Saturday. shopping + developing content
Sunday. New York Jets football game (God bless that we were able to somehow finesse indoor club seat tickets because the nor'easter storm was rough)
Monday. conference calls about an upcoming beauty collaboration with one of the hottest items of the moment (video coming soon), oh and my attempt to finish a paper while pretending to be a Spotify DJ
Tuesday. NYC Halloween parade
Wednesday. Louis Vuitton 'Volez, Vogue, Voyagez' exhibition tour, lunch at NoMo Kitchen, and a Hobo Bags private event
Thursday. completing a heaping pile of schoolwork and cleaning because I guess I'm supposed to be adulting now
Friday. ready for the weekend and lowkey not feeling this quiz I'm about to take (which I must get a 100% on because I've gotten all 100's so far in this class and the lowest grade gets dropped, so since I have all perfect scores I get to skip the last quiz of the semester as long as I get 100% on this one..if that made any sense)

Today is another one of those bipolar days because we're back in the 70s again in NYC and it's November. This baby doll top with ribbon shoulder straps from Shein literally has my heart. I go from street style to girly, frilly pieces like this so fast. You feel?

Wishing you all a fabulous weekend..xx

Back & I'm Better

Well it took about two months to get it together, but I think I can finally say that college feels as normal as it's going to feel. Therefore I'm back on the blog. The school workload isn't bad at all, actually much easier than I pictured, but everything else is pure culture shock. The best part by far is the fact that everyday I wake up in NYC. Rise & grind.

I can say that I have had a creative enlightening during my little time off and I have so many ideas I've been working on. I've realized that a lot of my Instagram is pretty much what my bio says: life(style). I love my job in the industry, exploring, and doing fun things while keeping it stylish. I want to keep Omnivogues in line with that and roll out more lifestyle & real life content. I love my fashion and it isn't going anywhere, but let's be real...fashion blogs are everywhere, but there is only one Raquel Ringgold and my adventures that are unique to myself. I don't want to show off the same cookie-cutter looks because everyone else is doing it. With that being said, I will do style like this post, but there will be an even larger variety of content coming out soon.

Halloween is next week (what even) and usually it is North Face, brick cold temperatures going on in New York, but recently it has been warm. Warm enough for this floral crochet shift dress from Shein. I'm not complaining because I am in love with this dress, but I'm just a little shook. Anyway, I've really been liking soft blues shades lately and finding myself wearing lots of tops in this range. This dress really gives me Parisian vibes. It's so chic, but classy, and can we talk about how ah-mazing the floral crochet neckline is.

Teen Vogue x Millie Bobby Brown x Converse Event

In the midst of NYFW, I took a break from the usual shows and instead teamed up to do a rad collaboration with Teen Vogue, Millie Bobby Brown, & Converse. A handful of Teen Vogue It Girl's were chosen to represent the mag at the private event, so this past Saturday we all met up at the Converse store in SoHo, Manhattan, to do some cool things (or should I say Stranger Things...!)

It didn't take any time for Millie to head on out and join us downstairs at the Blank Canvas studio to design Converse. Before we arrived she spent time picking out her top ten sneaker designs. I've done DIY projects many times in my life, but there is nothing like DIY with Millie Bobby Brown by your side. I can't even begin to explain how adorable and infectious her personality is. Especially being in such a private setting, it was cool to see Millie just doing her thing without all of the cameras around.

For what felt like the hardest life decision ever, I picked one of Millie's favorite designs featuring the NYC skyline and customized them on a pair of denim Converse with pink ring holes (which Millie was veryyyy happy about) and grey laces, oh and Millie's autograph on the inside. I can't wait for them to get delivered to me to see our final masterpiece.

Peplum Never Fails

I will never get tired of this white peplum Romwe top because it is one of the few styles that works for work/play. I'm that person who will have a ton of unconnected events in one day (ex: office work, birthday party, blogger event, circling the mall for the thousandth time, etc.) and tries to find an outfit that will work for everything because constant outfit changes take major effort.

There is less than a month until I am officially a New York City college person...whaaaat? You would think based on the amount of boxes and bags through the house that I'm U-Hauling myself across the globe into a ten-bedroom house, but instead I'm headed to my cute little dorm room in the city and the interior designer inside of me is alive. Dorm haul post, maybe?
xoxo Raquel

Matchy Matchy

Am I the only person that doesn't know what to do because I have so much to do? I'm sitting here writing this post with an empty suitcase in the next room that needs to get packed for my NYC trip this week. Mind you it's 12:30pm and I have to leave the house in 30 minutes to head to a party and I am still in pajamas and in desperate need of a meal. Luckily, I do have a pretty good idea of what outfits I'm packing for my trip though! I wore this co-ord set recently with matching rings from Gamiss and I say it all the time, but co-ord's are the most genius thing ever. This is completely 100% random, but this set reminds me of one of those pretty china vases and I really like it. I love sets that take no thought to wear, are simple to pack, and can match pretty much any pair of sandals.

My main purpose for this trip is because this is my last year taking precollege courses at the Fashion Institute of Technology and I'm gonna miss it for sure, but I have learned so much over the years from their summer classes. I've done fashion journalism, personal branding & self promotion, and this year I am going for public relations in fashion. I'll miss those good ol' fashion related assignments and making friends from across the world (all the way from Colombia to Canada!) with the same interests.

I've got a tooooon of stuff planned while I'm staying in the city for the week. Whenever I go anywhere, I have a thing for jamming my schedule completely. Relaxing vacations confuse me because you could have just stayed at home and done nothing, for free. On my agenda ranges from shooting collab looks to some five-star dining and a lot more in between. Make sure your following @raquelringgold on Insta to keep up with the daily summer adventures! xxx

Always be Different

Smiling because high school is over, in the past, dead and gone. Graduation is in a few days to seal the deal, but either way I am so glad that is over with. My eyes are glued on the future and what is to come. One thing I learned from high school teenagers is that everyone tries so hard to conform to who is around them. People have like twenty personalities depending on who they are around and don't even know which personality is actually authentic because they are always switching trying to please others. Maybe that is why me and my one personality never really fit in, but thank goodness for that or I would have never found my career and have been given these opportunities.

This sweater is pretty different if you ask me. It's all about perspective and stuff. If I say I'm going to put on a black sweater, that doesn't mean it can't have a twist. Always opt for what is a little special, a little different, like this bell sleeve sweater from Romwe. Only I can take a sweater and turn it into a lesson on life. Romwe makes me feel some type of way...like I want to shop all day.

A Package a Day

I am on such an online shopping high, it is bad. Between me constantly clicking "add to cart" and work packages-the mail carriers probably hate me. I've been working with Born Pretty Store for the longest (that promo code "MRYT10" comes in clutch for a discount) and always look forward to their goodies. From the cutest ear cuffs (check out this one and this one) to literally anything else.

What can I say, shopping is the best stress reliever.
