Call It A Day

On that Sunday when you have had the longest weekend and lack energy to put together a look, the only option left is to throw on a hoodie, leggings, and baseball cap, and call it a day.

Yesterday was one of those out alllll day days where I was up at 6am to go to the city and managed to hit an Earth Day street fair, attend a grand opening, stop for ice cream like a three year old, head to a party, and then go to another party outside of the city. Everything went well, but guys my highlight is that I finally got to eat a poke bowl which is sorta like a sushi bowl if you didn't know. BEST THING EVER. Not sure why it took this long for the poke trend to get going, but it is so delicious. You must try y'all.

Nautical

So, today is my last day of spring break and I'm gonna pretend that I am still  on the beach in the Hamptons by wearing this nautical halter top and corduroy skirt from Zaful. During the break I practically did something different every day, but what else is new. I've always got that wanderlust feeling running through me. I attended afternoon tea, museum trips, parties, and even binged the entire season of that new show Famous in Love in a solid 12 hours to name a few things.

I am heading out to spend the last afternoon at a restaurant with some friends before I prepare myself for the last month of school and all of the assignments to go along with it, but it's literally crunch time. In the midst of this, I've been inspired to rebrand and try to figure out which direction I really want to go in. I've always wanted to truly get into YouTube, but I miss modeling as frequently as I used to, and I used to love acting as well. Should I do it all? We'll see.

Copper Mug Co.

Now, if this pineapple cup doesn't match my current mood more accurately. It screams ready for the Hamptons and adventures while on break. In honor all of this, I collabed with Copper Mug Co. to share a very delish (and easy to make-no fussy ingredients!) spring smoothie. This company is USA based and their products are actually 100% handcrafted from pure copper. They have everything from cute little basic mugs, to The Pineapple. Oh, and of course the smoothie we're about to make is pineapple flavored to go with the cup. How cuuuuute!

Posh Pineapple Smoothie Recipe
(makes one serving)
-1 cup frozen pineapple chunks
-1 sliced, frozen banana
-3/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
-pinch of vanilla extract
-handful of ice cubes

1. place all ingredients into a blender (side note: I highly recommend a Nutri Ninja blender, if you're looking to purchase a good one)
2. blend until smooth - it should have a thick consistency
3. pour the deliciousness into your Copper Mug Co. and enjoy every sip

Wait. Did you say that you don't have a Copper Mug Co. cup to enjoy your tropical goodness in? Head over to their website to check out the amazing product line and use promo code "COPPERSHOPPER10" for 10% off.

Make Things Happen

GUYS! It feels like spring today and I'm in love. In honor, I had to step out in my pink duster and diamond choker from Sammydress. Spring break has arrived and I am so relieved- like I woke up at 9am today instead of 6am, that's a gift from the heavens.

In the past few days I have really seemed to notice more and more how much I like change. It is so hard for me to pick favorite things because I always know there is something I haven't done, seen, or tried yet (and it's most likely on my bucketlist to do so). That's why it is my long term goal to just do everything I wish no matter what it is.

I wish I could stay and chat, but I am taking that advice above and heading out of the house to get things done. Let's make things happen people.

Spring Break Things

I made it to spring break y'all. It has been a month of school without a single break and I seriously mean that. I have written many blog posts over the past few weeks during the wee hours of the night, as my eyes burned. I just wanna be happy and write...and that's what spring break is for.

Today I'm running around in my usual athleisure because what else is new. Even though it's a break, that just means pause the student life and more focus on the fun stuff. In other words, things will be happening pretty much each day involving the blog, modeling, and I'll be making a pit stop in the Hamptons. Make sure you're following @raquelringgold on IG to come along for the ride! xxx

I Am Who I Am

The cold shoulder sweater. One step closer to breaking out real spring apparel. Also, how cute is this watch? I always forget about watches and I feel bad neglecting them from my outfits all the time. Usually I dislike small face watches, like I actually buy men's watches because I prefer them obnoxiously large, but I thought the wrap around style of this one was really chic.

You are whatcha wear, so I Am Who I Am

BodyBrite Upper West Side

A brief summary of my BodyBrite spa experience: I walked in thinking my skin was pretty decent, I left like a glowing goddess marching my way through NYC...

Surprisingly, I have never had an official spa experience, so when BodyBrite Upper West Side invited me in to get pampered, I was totally in to test things out. I arrived to the cute Upper West Side location which has such a lush and inviting ambiance. First things first, this place deserves a gigantic award for friendliness and hospitality, seriously. The receptionist, Sandra, has to be one of the sweetest people I have ever met. She was so genuine and made sure the experience very enjoyable. I was then introduced to my esthetician, Paola, who would be doing my microdermabrasion + oxygen facial.

During my entire session, Paola kept me in the know about everything she was using on my skin. After cleaning the skin, my moisture level was taken with a little device which I thought was so neat. My percentage was 29% which is a bit low and I was surprised because I drink a ridiculous amount of water daily and moisturize my skin morning & night, but Paola explained that other factors like weather changes and stress can easily effect the level. I asked her a question about the benefits of teens receiving spa treatments like this and I learned that prevention is the key to having nicer skin later in life. By adding in occasional spa visits to your skincare routine at a young age, you will prevent your skin from aging as quickly meaning you won't find yourself contemplating Botox nearly as soon. Yay!

I got the diamond-peel microdermabrasion first which is a super deep exfoliation. It makes sense to do this before the oxygen facial because it removes all of the icky dead skin cells, so the facial can absorb into perfectly renewed skin. The microdermabrasion is completely painless and stimulates blood flow to help elasticity and cell production. It feels like a tiny suction is going across your face massaging your skin. Ahhhh. After that, my skin was all prepped for an oxygen facial. The purpose is to infuse a hyaluronic acid serum into the skin. Translation= a magical potion that will make your skin glow and feel extra plump. The nutrients were misted onto my face and it felt extremely refreshing. Once the serum was sealed in and polished, Paola used the moisture device from earlier and I was now at 66% which is around where it should belong. Such a drastic change from earlier!

I walked into the room with clear skin, but after the treatment every inch of my skin felt fresh AND was radiating. No real need for foundation, nothing to conceal. Thank you so much to the owner, Elena, of BodyBrite Upper West Side for an incredible experience! I'm a very happy (and glowing) client.

Keep up with BodyBrite Upper West Side on their Instagram

Zaful Lovin'

TOP // SKIRT // WATCH
Zaful has become one of my favorite online stores because they have an endless amount of items and I constantly find myself putting together potential outfits. Here is just a little bit of daily inspiration to envision serving looks, as I sit here suffering from allergies. xoxo.

Status: Feeling Motivated

Jeans and a bodysuit are becoming my new uniform and I like it. This bodysuit is a little bit more on the sparkly side, but who knows the party might start earlier in the day. Zaful just keeps on keeping on with the trends. Speaking of keep on keeping on; I just brought the song Motivation back into my playlist and hence the title I'm thrilled, ecstatic, relieved, etc. that there are only two months of school remaining. It's out with the old and in with the new (not a High School Musical pun at alllll).

I've been overly inspired lately and thank goodness because I have lots of plans for Omnivogues, along with life in general. Living the que sera sera life is great, but making a general outline will smooth things out through the process. Eh what am I saying, que sera sera my darlings.

xoxo Raquel

Spring Floral Sleeves

Happy First Day of Spring! At the slightest brink of warmth in the air, every blogger breaks out the basic spring clothing necessity- the black crop top. By warm I mean fifty degrees, but whatever it was nice while it lasted. Then I had to throw in that little floral bit to keep the spring vibes going with this lace sleeved zip-up jacket which is also from Sammydress.

This weekend I was really spoiled with having nothing scheduled to do. That's a first. I decided to keep it low-key and I went to see Beauty & the Beast on Saturday (I'm still on a Disney high from my trip) and got brunch at The Roundhouse in Beacon on Sunday. It was a nice break, but I'm really looking forward to this upcoming weekend. There is a lot to do in the city and I can't wait. Can't wait to take you behind-the-scenes for a fun experience. You'll just have to wait and see! xxx

Shamrock On

Happy St. Patrick's Day! We're all Irish on the 17th..
What a perfect day to wear a green jumpsuit. Looks like I'm spot on with the theme of the day. I need to mention that I am so glad this jumpsuit has pockets. Not sure if it's just me, but pockets literally give me a sense of comfort. Also, I am reaaaaaly liking the off-shoulder look right now. This whole outfit is from Amiclubwear, shoes included. I'm just glad I found another one of those perfect chunky heels that can be dressed up or down. Ohhh, and no you don't have to sit there and buckle each strap for five minutes. The zipper is on the back. Your welcome.

So, I'm back home from Florida which was nice as always. Gorgeous weather, amazing food, Disney princesses...the most depressing thing was coming back home to a massive blizzard. One second I was gazing at palm trees with a piƱa colada in hand and the next I was battling the snow and wearing five layers again (aaaaand I was still cold). It was a nice little break though and now I am hyped for the next breaks where I will have no worries once again..ex: spring break, summer vacation. I'm ready to break out the warm weather outfits.

Breaking the Rules

Okay, this jacket and white silk dress from Gamiss is my new favorite combo. The silk frenzy has been right up my alley. While I was wearing it I kept thinking about the belt and figured it is probably supposed to be worn as a neck tie, but what even are rules. Besides the unsaid rules of fashion, I've recently been trying to slow down overthinking by setting less rules and more fashion goals.

Fashion Myths Meant to be Broken

prints should match - glad this is dead and gone

only wear sneakers to the gym - come find me in Nike's 90% of the time

daytime/nighttime looks - I reallllly don't think a clock should determine an outfit

sweatpants shouldn't be worn outside the house - joggers and heels are quite the combo

bright colors are only for warmer weather - be the pop of color in the swarm of black winter coats

socks and open toe shoes - okay, I still can't feel the socks and sandals thing, but I'm all for socks and open toe heels

Only Queen

It was all over my social media, but my birthday was Feb. 26th and I am finally an adult now..but not really at the same time! I failed to do a birthday recap post on the blog, but if you follow me you definitely saw a good glimpse. I received a bunch of messages from you all and I responded, so thank you very very much. My birthday weekend was really fun. I was at The Plaza Hotel for a bit pretending I was Eloise (ha!). There I had afternoon tea at The Palm Court and the staff surprised me with special birthday macarons. How did they know that's my favorite? Definitely got the royal treatment. After I went to see Cirque du Soleli on Broadway which was fantastic. Then on my ACTUAL birthday I had another party and then a dinner. I'm so grateful and excited to see what I'm going to accomplish as a now official adult.

How perfect is this Zaful bomber jacket for a pageant girl? Like pink AND a crown!? I'm a very happy Teen Miss U.S. of America today and I will be for the next few days because I'm headed to Disney World this week. I haven't been in almost two years, so I am due to go on Space Mountain and finally see the new outlets. Like the crazy, insane, OCD person I am I packed the other day and everything is perfectly organized. I'm that person.

Aisle Style

Wedding Party 1 | 2
You know what's approaching? Wedding season, prom season, pageant season...I need new dresses season. I was recently introduced to a popular dress store, Aisle Style UK, which provides the looks I obsess over in magazines. They have every type of dress you can think of: long bridesmaids dresses, special occasion, wedding party, and even plus size. I know many people shop online for dresses nowadays, but a lot of amazing options can be missed by only shopping in one physical store. Also, it is 10x easier if you're ordering pieces for large groups, like bridesmaid dresses, because Aisle Style has styles that are sometimes harder to find in every color like lace bridesmaids dresses and short bridesmaids dresses.

Personally with dresses I love two-pieces and mermaid style, but nothing beats a classic, simple gown. When it comes to the evening gown competition for pageants I usually think of two key things: something that flatters me + a gown that the judges will think is different. I've been seeing so many girls lately at competitions wearing the coolest dress colors that most people wouldn't go for, but it always looks on point. Seeing the same style/pattern dress gets boring at a pageant, prom, wherever. Enough is enough! Anyway, I picked some of the top picks from Aisle Style to inspire you for your next big event.

What dress is you favorite and where would you wear it to?
