December Mood Board

fitzcarraldo (n.) an image that somehow becomes lodged deep in your brain—maybe washed there by a dream, or smuggled inside a book, or planted during a casual conversation—which then grows into a wild and impractical vision that keeps scrambling back and forth in your head like a dog stuck in a car that’s about to arrive home, just itching for a chance to leap headlong into reality.

KKW Powder Contour & Highlight Kit | First Impressions

As promised, here I am with another video, finally! I'm totally, completely, 100% shook that I am typing this, but I am so excited to have collabed with KKW Beauty to do this review. Yes, THE KKW BEAUTY, as in THE Kim Kardashian West's line. I did a first impressions video on their Powder Contour & Highlight Kit, so watch to see if I think it is worth the cost, how it works on my skin, and more.

Teen Vogue x Millie Bobby Brown x Converse Event

In the midst of NYFW, I took a break from the usual shows and instead teamed up to do a rad collaboration with Teen Vogue, Millie Bobby Brown, & Converse. A handful of Teen Vogue It Girl's were chosen to represent the mag at the private event, so this past Saturday we all met up at the Converse store in SoHo, Manhattan, to do some cool things (or should I say Stranger Things...!)

It didn't take any time for Millie to head on out and join us downstairs at the Blank Canvas studio to design Converse. Before we arrived she spent time picking out her top ten sneaker designs. I've done DIY projects many times in my life, but there is nothing like DIY with Millie Bobby Brown by your side. I can't even begin to explain how adorable and infectious her personality is. Especially being in such a private setting, it was cool to see Millie just doing her thing without all of the cameras around.

For what felt like the hardest life decision ever, I picked one of Millie's favorite designs featuring the NYC skyline and customized them on a pair of denim Converse with pink ring holes (which Millie was veryyyy happy about) and grey laces, oh and Millie's autograph on the inside. I can't wait for them to get delivered to me to see our final masterpiece.

Copper Mug Co.

Now, if this pineapple cup doesn't match my current mood more accurately. It screams ready for the Hamptons and adventures while on break. In honor all of this, I collabed with Copper Mug Co. to share a very delish (and easy to make-no fussy ingredients!) spring smoothie. This company is USA based and their products are actually 100% handcrafted from pure copper. They have everything from cute little basic mugs, to The Pineapple. Oh, and of course the smoothie we're about to make is pineapple flavored to go with the cup. How cuuuuute!

Posh Pineapple Smoothie Recipe
(makes one serving)
-1 cup frozen pineapple chunks
-1 sliced, frozen banana
-3/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
-pinch of vanilla extract
-handful of ice cubes

1. place all ingredients into a blender (side note: I highly recommend a Nutri Ninja blender, if you're looking to purchase a good one)
2. blend until smooth - it should have a thick consistency
3. pour the deliciousness into your Copper Mug Co. and enjoy every sip

Wait. Did you say that you don't have a Copper Mug Co. cup to enjoy your tropical goodness in? Head over to their website to check out the amazing product line and use promo code "COPPERSHOPPER10" for 10% off.

Status: Feeling Motivated

Jeans and a bodysuit are becoming my new uniform and I like it. This bodysuit is a little bit more on the sparkly side, but who knows the party might start earlier in the day. Zaful just keeps on keeping on with the trends. Speaking of keep on keeping on; I just brought the song Motivation back into my playlist and hence the title I'm thrilled, ecstatic, relieved, etc. that there are only two months of school remaining. It's out with the old and in with the new (not a High School Musical pun at alllll).

I've been overly inspired lately and thank goodness because I have lots of plans for Omnivogues, along with life in general. Living the que sera sera life is great, but making a general outline will smooth things out through the process. Eh what am I saying, que sera sera my darlings.

xoxo Raquel

Spring Floral Sleeves

Happy First Day of Spring! At the slightest brink of warmth in the air, every blogger breaks out the basic spring clothing necessity- the black crop top. By warm I mean fifty degrees, but whatever it was nice while it lasted. Then I had to throw in that little floral bit to keep the spring vibes going with this lace sleeved zip-up jacket which is also from Sammydress.

This weekend I was really spoiled with having nothing scheduled to do. That's a first. I decided to keep it low-key and I went to see Beauty & the Beast on Saturday (I'm still on a Disney high from my trip) and got brunch at The Roundhouse in Beacon on Sunday. It was a nice break, but I'm really looking forward to this upcoming weekend. There is a lot to do in the city and I can't wait. Can't wait to take you behind-the-scenes for a fun experience. You'll just have to wait and see! xxx

CocoRoo

I'm really excited to introduce you to CocoRoo which I am so grateful to work with for this post. Lately I have seen the hype with the coffee ground scrubs for your skin all over Instagram. Every celeb is using it right now and I had to give it a try and let me just cut to the chase- IT WORKS. The Total Rejavanation (cutest. name. ever.) is a coffee body scrub with antioxidants and cold-pressed oils that smells like Starbucks and acts by exfoliating, smoothing, and mousturizing. The first time I tried it I applied the scrub onto my face in circular motions after cleansing. I let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing it off in the shower and the coffee grounds exfoliated my skin really well. I felt a huge difference with my skin feeling moisturized before putting on any sort of actual moisturizer and it left my skin all glowy. Seeing a difference after just one use is pretty impressive.

In addition to the coffee body scrub CocoRoo has a line of three organic coconut moisturizers: naturally naked, mint condition, and lost in lavender (my favorite!). Coconut oil is a known must for gorgeous skin and it is the key ingredient in the lotions. The aroma is so nice..like I wish you could smell it through the screen. It smells very natural, not artificial like perfumy lotions. Besides being used as a typical moisturizer it has very soothing effects thanks to the oils, so it seems perfect for other uses like massage oil (if heated enough), makeup remover, soothing sunburn, lipbalm, and so on. Natural products have so many uses it's like magic.

Something I didn't know about coconut oil is that it easily hardens when cold, so I ran the tubes under warm water for a few seconds to soften and they were good to go. I am glad that it's in a tube because products in jars collect bacteria much easier and I'm such a germaphobe. What I really love is that I can actually read the ingredients on the tubes and know what they are without googling. There are only a few ingredients in each product and they are all beneficial for skin. I really care about what I put on my body, so I'm totally into this line. Oh, and it is made right here in the USA. I'm hooked.

Use my promo code "RAQUEL" for 15% off your entire CocoRoo purchase. Happy Shopping!

Glazed Over Donuts

"YOU DONUT EVEN KNOW HOW FUN CUSTOM MAKING YOUR OWN DONUTS ARE..."

Right smack dab in the middle of Main St. in Beacon, New York lies one of the trendiest, yummiest new hot spots. Glazed Over Donuts opened less than two weeks ago and has already scored social media attention with their Instagram worthy donuts (I posted mine, obviously). Owners, Lisa and Ron Tompkins, have brought this yummy addition to an already vibrant area with a concept that has not been done in any other surrounding towns. They were inspired by a similar type of food spot while vacationing and the rest is history. It seems like the art of customizing your own donuts is here to stay.

With the perfect family atmosphere and everyone's favorite sweet treat, Glazed Over Donuts has the perfect recipe (for success + the most delicious donuts you will ever eat). The hype was bigger than they initially anticipated, but I could definitely see why it was such a hit. I was kindly invited to come in this past Friday afternoon which I assumed would be a slower time, but I walked right into the buzzing shop and people just kept on coming in and out with boxes in hand. Move over NYC artisan bakeries, the Hudson Valley is on your level now.

Now the menu is truly magical. Should I do Nutella...no wait, caramel sounds good. That was my situation for approximately ten minutes of deciding what to order and I ended up with half a dozen of completely different combinations. The donuts, which have an amazing cake batter taste, come out hot and fresh and the action can literally be watched through the clear window into the kitchen where it all happens. They are a twist on the typical donut and customized in a three step process: glaze, toppings, and drizzles. My favorite toppings happened to be fruity pebbles and marshmallows, but everything that I ordered was spectacular. No ifs, ands, or buts about that. Now I love good old Dunkin' Donuts, but Glazed Over Donuts is nowhere near comparable. The taste and quality is simply out of this world. It looks like I will be heading to Beacon more frequently just to keep trying new combinations!

Follow Glazed Over donuts on Facebook to keep up!
and thank you to Glazed Over Donuts for having me...xo
