Wisdom from DVF

I have always adored Diane von Furstenberg and her extensive wisdom. A few of the things you can identify her as is: former royalty (still royalty in my mind), president of the CFDA, queen of the fashion world, feminine icon, and the best reality TV show star (House of DVF has kept me up forever at night!). This week one of my besties and I went to the beautiful New York Public Library for an amazing event where she discussed her life and career. We checked in and got seats right in front of the stage! The author Rhonda Garelick who wrote Mademoiselle: Coco Chanel and the Pulse of History, was also on the panel.

Diane seems to understand so much about life in general. Her mom was a Holocaust survivor and that really shaped Diane to be "the woman she wanted to be" she stated. The advice that she gave for anyone wanting to strive to success was to think about what you want to become every single night before you go to bed. It was such a gift hearing this great advice from the woman who lived the total American dream. Her wrap dresses will remain a classic staple and friend in women's closets across the globe. Everyone has their own "wrap story".

She shared her way of thinking of different women in three different personas: Diva, Viva, and Fifa. Diva is the strong woman who is hardworking. Viva is your artsy woman. Fifa is the casual woman. During the discussion, Chanel was a key feature as well (there was even an open seat there for her ghost to join in on the conversation)! Diane said that something her and Coco both had in common was that they both wanted a man's life in a woman's body. I am so inspired from listening to both Rhonda and Diane who have shaped the fashion empire. Certainly they are both two amazing women changing the world!

Can we just admire the ceiling of the library? Only New York.
